How to play

Tap one of your pieces: the squares it can reach appear.

  • No undo at this difficultyOn Easy and Medium and between two players you can take back moves; Hard and Expert have no undo.
  • Check!When your king is attacked (check) you must save it first. If you can't, it's checkmate and the game is over.
  • CastlingYou can castle: move your king two squares towards a rook and the rook jumps to its other side.
  • En passantEn passant: the pawn that just moved two squares past yours can be taken by moving to the square behind it.
  • PromotionYour pawn can reach the last rank: there it becomes a queen, rook, bishop or knight.
